This is the start of something new: I will be posting from time to time articles, pictures, videos… etc that will hopefully be of help to other artists, music industry folk and maybe shed some light for the average consumer about the music they listen to and buy…
Over the past few days, things have been turning about in the music industry – music chart transparency, media publications playing musical chairs and what makes a good person better.
Well, maybe not the last person.
BUT I did spent the afternoon at a Grammy event at the City Winery, Woman In Music this was a panel with luncheon event, with producers of various calibers: Linda Perry, Sylvia Massey and Trakgirl all talking about their journeys, techniques and beyond.
Then on Saturday night, I was up watching a slew of Instagram videos and I ran across the one from the Notre Dame basketball coach about females in the work force etc…
Her answer was simple: hire more woman for leadership positions… and that’s what she’s done for her staff.
Sounds easy right? Well, yes and no. I like the idea of having a mix group cause not what I do is not all female driven, it’s a mix of everyone. I have to include everyone, if they deserve to be there.
Deserve: what does that mean?
Well, let’s see here: perfect example – Billboard takes down Lil’ Nas X rap/song – “Old Town Road” because it didn’t have all the elements of a country song. Right, what was missing? The male white country singer.
The 800lb elephant is now on the streets roaming.
Have a good day.
