JASON RINGENBERG GOES MANO TO MANO WITH GOVERNMENT CHEESE
11-11-22
7:30 PM
EXIT/IN
NASHVILLE
With Special Guests Kristi Rose & Fats Kaplin
Exit/In has been a cornerstone of the Nashville music scene for the past 50-plus years, and sadly, all good things must end, even if we don’t think they should. This will be a night of celebration, remembering and peeling the paint off the walls. It will be punk rock, rock ‘n’ roll, country, and some beer-guzzling blues as these three acts set fire to the stage that made them who they are.

Jason Ringenberg, who founded Jason & The Scorchers, one of the finest groups to come flying out of Music City, will give the place a proper sendoff with his signature voice, razor-sharp songs, and manic stage presence. “I feel so honored to be playing Exit/In one last time this November 11. So many of my most memorable music experiences happened on that stage, including our first sold-out Nashville show in 1983, the EMI FERVOR release show in 1984, the recording of our MIDNIGHT ROADS AND STAGES SEEN live album in 1997, and the Perry Baggs health benefit concert in 2007. That room bleeds soul from its walls. It is the living embodiment of all that is great and real about Nashville music.”
“It’s a celebration of what this place means to all of us, all the music these walls have soaked in,” says Government Cheese lead guitarist and resident lunatic Tommy Womack, speaking of Nashville’s legendary – and soon-to-be-shuttered – Exit/In. “The Cheese wore a hole in this stage back in the day. Jason (Ringenberg) too, all of us did,” he says, “you just sort of thought it would always be there – the sun, the moon, and the Exit/In.”
From Kristi Rose & Fats Kaplin: “We certainly put some serious time in at Exit/In over the years. Our first shows together in Music City, a kazillion Billy Block Western Beat performances, and many hangs hearing great artists with our friends. Life comes full circle as we share this iconic stage one more time with two legendary Nashville Bands.”
If you could compare another city’s venue to Exit/In, it would be something like NYC’s CBGB marrying L.A.’s Troubadour as they evolved from a listening room to a rock club along the Rock Block in Nashville, TN. So, get ready, folks, for a Friday night that will last forever in our hearts and result in some more hearing loss.
